After Gene left, Ace walked over to the stage and said something to the effect of "That is what money does to you". Many people were shocked by what took place.
A lot of people brought gifts for Ace. There were necklaces (Spacebear), sweatshirts (Paulsrose2001), and a four foot stuffed lightning bolt pillow which some of our friends signed (Mickiss).
There were many other gifts given, along with birthday cards. It seemed like Ace appreciated the gifts.
The people who had already been through the line to see Ace or who had numbers that were not called yet were able to stand outside of the roped off area where Ace was and watch him while taking pictures.
There were also tables and chairs to sit at to eat the lunch they served. The lunch was a hot dog, bag of chips and a soda. There was no alcohol being sold at the party. Later on they served birthday cake.
Finally, it was our turn to get our autographs and pictures. Wendy took the first Ace Frehley Rock Soldiers Newsletter. When it was her turn she asked the staff if she could have the Kissonline BBS Spaceladies who were at the party in her picture with her (the original Spacelady-Marilyn, Krista, and Val). All four of them stood near Ace for the picture.
By the time this occurred, the staff were tired along with Ace and they were rushing people through the line.
When Krista got her photo taken Ace smiled and gave her thumbs up.
Micki, who had the four foot lightning bolt for Ace was finally able to give it to him. She carried that thing on the airplane, through the hotel, and for the entire party. She handed the staff her camera so they could take her photo with Ace. This is what she got.
After seeing the photo, we were all laughing so hard, but she was on a mission to get one with her face in it. I do not know how she did it but this is what she came back with. Good job Micki.
Craig brought the New York Kiss poster. He was able to get it signed and have a couple of photos taken. When I last saw Craig, he had the poster spread out in the back of his car so it would not get smeared.
Mike brought a "cardboard" cut out of Ace for him to autograph. Later all the spaceladies had their photos taken with it.
I brought my 1977 Kiss comic book which I already had Gene and Paul sign at the Premier of the movie "Rock Star." Ace signed my book and took a photo with me. I thanked him and he said, "Sure."
A couple of bands played during the party. One was "SSG" and the other was Eric Singer with Friends. I watched Eric Singer's band with Eric on the drums. He is a very talented drummer.
After Eric was done on the stage, he stood around autographing items and talking.
I knew that he was going to be there so I printed a picture of Eric and brought it for him to sign. There was so much animosity between the Kiss Army when Eric first put on the cat make-up that I chose that picture. Eric happily signed the picture.
After Ace was through signing autographs, the people who were still in the hall, sang a chorus of Happy Birthday as Ace was starting to leave. When he was almost out the door he turned around and waved. Everyone clapped and cheered for him.
Overall, I am very glad that I went to the party. Another piece of Kisstory. I was able to hang out with "My Kiss Army" friends, Wendy, Micki, Al, Jo, Craig, Mike, and Krista. I was also able to meet Marilyn, Val, Krueger, and so many other Kiss Army members. I was able to interview Eddie Trunk, which was very cool. I asked him about his friendship with Ace. Ace said some pretty wild things, but he has been known to say how he feels.
There were new friends made, however, I cannot help but notice that some friendships were lost.
